RSVP

RSVP
abbreviation
Répondez s'il vous plaît, or please reply (used at the end of invitations to request a response)

Usually if we receive wedding invitation or any events invitation, usually it is stated at the bottom of the card for us to RSVP. Not many knows what is the function for this rsvp. Some may just see and dont bother to take actions or perhaps, take for granted with the invitation card, you already seats at that function.

It is important for us to actually reply to the rsvp. With the reply, the event organizer or in malays wedding terms,  'tuan rumah', will able to calculate or estimate how many guest that are available to attend the function or ceremony. From there they will arrange with the hotels, or caterer on how many pax of food that they will need prepare.

It happened to a friend to my sister,  where her wedding was held at a 5 star hotel and the seats was not enough due to un-reply guest came for the ceremony. Yes, the more the merrier but not on a seated type of function. The bride's father need to add up more than 5 tables which usually a table can accomodate 8-10 pax. First thing first, it does create inconvenience to the tuan rumah and also the guest. Imagine if the tuan rumah are not able to get more seats. It will definitely cause shame to both party.

So moral of the story, if you did receive this kind of invitation, spare maybe 5 mins of your time to reply. It does make a difference
